Family law / financial settlements can be an emotional and sometimes stressful property transaction. Almost all divorces or separations require a financial settlement and real estate is often involved. This is where a formal independent valuation is strongly advised.

We are Licensed Valuers in Western Australia and members of the Australian Property Institute. We are bound by the Code of Ethics under the Valuer’s Licencing Act in WA.

Our valuation services can be included as evidence for the Family Court or used for mediation prior to court proceedings. We are guided by the rules under the Family Law Act (Section 15.5)

A licensed property valuer appointed as a single expert witness has certain duties to uphold. They are engaged to provide an objective and unbiased opinion which is also independent and impartial on matters that are within the expert witness’s knowledge and capability.

A formal valuation (sometimes known as a “sworn valuation”) will assist greatly when seeking a financial settlement or as submission as an expert if an agreement cannot be reached. They are not swayed by the situation, marketing, location or relativity.
